176.4 kHz Upsampling Upgrade for the iLink
This is a software upgrade for all iLinks, that enables 176.4 kHz upsampling of all files played. A sound file, in the .wav format is emailed that can be loaded with iTunes on your iPod. When you play the file on the iLink, it will update the firmware in the iLink permanently, which will result in an upsampled output. The upsampled output will play on any DAC capible of 176.4 kHz playback. It can only be installed in the iLink for which you supplied the serial number. If you would like to preview this upgrade you may download a temporary filter here (right click and save source as) or from the MSB website. This can be loaded and evaluated but will disappear when the unit is shut off. The Upgrade Purchase does come with installation instructions and includes the original non-upsampled code so you may undo the installation at any time. iPod is a registered trademark of Apple Computer. The iPod upgrade is not approved by Apple and voids Apple’s warranty. The iLink provides no function with non-upgraded iPods. In September 2007 Apple released 6th generation iPod Videos, a new 80 GB and 160 GB model. We have adequate stock of 5th generation 80 GB iPods and will continue to offer them as well as offer upgrades to that model until the engineering for the 6th generation has been completed, sometime in 2008. The iLink is expected to be compatible with the new iPods.
