Platinum Extended Frequency Filter Upgrade

This is a software upgrade of the digital filter and can be applied to all Power DAC and Platinum DAC3s as well as older Platinum's that have the 16x Filter upgrade.

This is a software upgrade of the digital filter. It is a sound file, saved on a CD that can be played back to the DAC and which will update the firmware in the DAC permanently, which will result in improved sound. It can be applied to all Power DAC and Platinum DAC3s as well as older Platinum's that have the 16x Filter upgrade. This improved filter provides greater clarity and a marked reduction in the digital harshness associated with CD sources. It can only be installed in the DAC for which you supplied the serial number.

This upgrade loads new firmware into your DAC which improves the sound of the DAC as well as provides a new feature. The filter option switch, which is on the front panel of the DAC3 and the back panel of the Power DAC used to switch to an alternate filter. Now it provides the same great sound but with a 6 db cut in level to make the output more compatible with active preamps.

If you would like to preview this upgrade you may download a temporary filter here (right click and save source as) or from the MSB website. This can be loaded and evaluated but will disappear when the unit is shut off. The Upgrade CD does come with installation instructions and includes the original filters so you may undo the installation at any time.
